![]() | People begin the process of searching for a job by constructing a resume or a CV. Most of us probably have at least one or the other. Some of us may have even consulted a book or two about constructing resumes. However, most of us probably have received no formal advice, and are proceeding based on the examples of friends or family. The main purpose of a resume is to get you an interview. It is very rare that someone is hired sight-unseen. |

![]() | Re: Problem in Resume writing It is very true, most schools do not teach a formal class on writing a resume, I think that it should be required for all high schools students. And cover again in college. |

![]() | Re: Problem in Resume writing Lucky? It's quite common to have resume and job preparation classes at school / university nowadays. There are heaps of examples out there on the net, so really you can easily create your own successful resume to suit your needs. No need to pay someone to do it.

![]() | Re: Problem in Resume writing Resume is a marketing tool that one has to use to get hired. The first impression that any recruiter develops is based on the resume. The important part to prepare it is to concentrate on one's strongest points. I have seen people trying to put colors and pictures which mix up the things. A simple and clean resume can get the interview call for you and believe me you don't need any training for that. |

![]() | Re: Problem in Resume writing That was in response to the person who said thay should teach this stuff in school and later in college. I assumed that they did teach that stuff but the way it was worded I thought that maybe not all schools were concentrating on teaching that skill. I guess Lucky was not the appropriate word |

![]() | Re: Problem in Resume writing Basically, resumes are a way of narrowing down the applicants. You don't want to have anything on your resume that sorts you out as an obvious "no": spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, that sort of thing. You also want to make sure that the requirements listed for the job are present on your resume. That's why I look over my resume and make small tweaks for the job if I know about the requirements. |

![]() | Re: Problem in Resume writing I agree with reviewer that have to update your resume every now and then and also to make sure it reflects that you have the skill sets which the recruiters are looking for. And hence it is quite necessary that your "those" skills and abilities are highlighted in the resume which are are mentioned in the job posting. |
