![]() | Hi all, a newb here i've got an of interviews coming up with a recruiter (KOHGAKUSHA CO., LTD) next week (23rd May). this is going to my first attempt at getting a teaching role. Been working in the IT industry for 4+ years and I don't have any experience whats so ever in the teaching field. I do however fullfil the basic requirements i see in most job ads..eg university degree (Bsc in Computing Science), be from english native speaking country (australia). anyway to my question/s - What are the traits and qualities these recruiters looking for?...as they always mention "no teaching experience required", but at the end of the day this is a teaching job - and also what are peoples feeling regarding recruiters like KOHGAKUSHA CO., LTD, Nova group and ECC? as these are the main one i come across during my job searches Thanks to all in advance ![]() |

![]() | first teaching interview Welcome aussimonsean, Congratulations on setting up your first interview. Things to keep in mind for the interview would be:
Big chain schools like Nova, ECC, Berlitz and AEON are not necessarily bad or look bad on your resume. They are professional organisations that wont scam the teacher. The hourly wage may be lower than elsewhere, but they will look after you and are a great stepping stone before heading out to corporate classes, high schools and universities. You will also get the opportunity to meet other teachers at these schools and share thoughts. There are other jobs in Japan with other companies. Just check the jobs for teaching in Japan forum. All the best!

![]() | Great man!! You get your first interview call. There is nothing to feel nervous. Be confident. Make sure that you practice with someone else as how you give your interview. Prepare yourself for the general questions asked in interviews. Best of Luck!! |

![]() | Re: preparing for interview with recruiters There is some sites which explain how to act during interview. I suggest following things: be positive, cold, don't be cocky and supportive. Last edited by gfell; Sat 18-Nov-06 at 10:10 PM. |

![]() | Re: preparing for interview with recruiters Why would you suggest being cold in the interview? Or was it just a typo on your behalf? If anything, one should be warm and friendly in the interview. You need to demonstrate that you are a "peoples" person. That is, able to relate to the feelings of others.

![]() | Re: preparing for interview with recruiters make sure you dress formal even if you setting may not be. Some hard questions they may ask that you can prepare for are. What are your strengths? What is your weakness? Where do you plan to be in 5 years? and give me an example where you have gone above and beyond the call of duty |
