Are you planning to become and ESL teacher at some stage? If so, where is it that you'd like to teach? Yes, this is a great site for info from more experienced members. When I was newer, I got a lot of good advice just by reading the posts written by people like gfell, hyperion and niko amongst others. Hope all is well with you. ![]()

![]() | Joel, Glad to have you here. Speaking of retail, I recently left Target (Aug. 2006) after nearly three years there. I think you would find a lot more satisfaction teaching ESL. You share ideas and influence lives with teaching. Don |

![]() | Re: Hi - I'm really enjoying my time here Hey, thanks for the welcoming words of encouragement! Yes I'm currently trying to get ESL work in Korea. Am trying a couple of different recruiters, but a little nervous about them after some of the stories I've read. However I've also read as much as is humanly possible on these forums and Dave's cafe, and so remaining optimistic.. and Don, I know how you feel. I've been at David Jones for just over 3 years now, and can't wait to get out of there! Teaching foreign children will probably be a piece of cake compared to some of the people I've had to deal with over the years ![]() |

![]() | Re: Hi - I'm really enjoying my time here Joel, Currently I am doing private Spanish tutoring with Club Z. My background is a Bachelor in Science in Spanish. I think that retail may help you since you work with the public. Teaching is very different because you want to influence or persuade as well as share ideas. Retail is more take it or leave it. Buy or not, we don't care. You don't really make any investment in that type of work. Sure you put in hours, but it's like you can't build on anything. Corporate decides to change and that's it. You go along or leave. One good thing is you can still build relationships to an extent. Don't give up on seeking opportunities as they present themselves. Ciao. ![]() |

![]() | Re: Hi - I'm really enjoying my time here I just thought I'd post a "hi" here too. I'm not a teacher yet, but I taught English in Japan years ago. I guess a lot has changed since then (doubt they hire 18-year-olds anymore) and I'm glad for all the info I've been reading here. ![]() |
