Sex Education inappropriate?

In India, the government has gone prudish again. The government has decided to back out of the 'adolescent education programme' of the Union ministry of human resources development, as it deemed the subject 'inappropriate'.

A government release stated that the study material and books on sex education were such that it "could not be taught to students".

Hence, the government had decided to back out. Ever since 2002-03, the 'adolescent education programme' was being run in state schools by Gujarat State AIDS Control Society through several voluntary organisations for students of classes IX and XI.
