![]() | What's the difference between 50 & 100 hr. certificate? Can anyone tell me the difference between a 50 hour course and a 100 hour course. Beside the hours. What's the difference with the tesol course? Does anyone know? I found this web site called Linuaedge it's for an on-line course and they offer a TESOL Teaching Certificate Course but how do I know if it's as good as a certificate that you would get from a 100 hour course? Does anyone have any information about this school? I can only take a course on-line and I really want the course experience more so than the actually cert. Thanks. Have never heard of Linuaedge, even though I've been in the ESL industry for quite some years now. There site only went up in March of this year according to a quick check I did on their domain name. So, personally I would go with this mob as no-one has heard of them. Go with a school with more of a reputation. i-to-i have one of the best reputations around, and I believe you can't go wrong with them. |

![]() | Re: What's the difference between 50 & 100 hr. certificate? Hi Amy, I've never heard of the school. The main difference between courses is whether or not they contain teaching practice with real students. The courses that do are generally speaking more widely recognised. When choosing your course go back to your motivations and goals. Research the country you would like to work in - do employers in that region require TEFL certs with teaching practice? Will you get more money by having a cert with teaching practice? Online courses are a great choice if you want to try teaching, find out more about teaching, want a short contract, are keen to work in certain locations or are looking for an experience such as a year-out. Aside from that, I wouldn't pay extra for specialist training like teaching kids or business clients - if this is what the extra hours are for - unless this makes you feel more comfortable about taking a class. At the end of the day, your perceptions of how prepared you feel are the real value in doing the longer course. I hope this helps. Best of luck choosing your course.

![]() | Re: What's the difference between 50 & 100 hr. certificate? Nah, don't think it makes much of a difference. From a high-level view of things, a TEFL certificate is a TEFL certificate. Employers will just be stoked you have a TEFL certificate. |
