![]() | Hi everyone, Yes another newb ... My wife and I a looking at teaching english in the asia region probably China as that seems to have the biggest demand atm. Just wondering if I could get any advice on what colleges etc are the best to do a TESL course through? There jus seem to be so many with prices ranging from as little as +-$300 right up to +-$2000... And they all claim to be the best so just looking for some feedback on other peoples experiences... Is there somewhere that has a pros and cons of various agencies offering these courses? We are based in Brisbane if that helps... |

![]() | Which TESL course What are you backgrounds? I firmly believe you need to choose a TESL course that complements your background and experiences. If you have no teaching experience and no degree, then you should go for the classroom based TESL course that is over a few days or even a week. If you have teaching experience and/or a university degree, then an online TESL course would be fine. You need to think from the eyes of the employer. Will they feel more at ease if you attended a classroom based or online TESL course? Probably wont make much of a difference if you already have teaching experience though. Also, do you have a budget, or is quality the priority? |

![]() | Which TESL course Go for the most well known ones like i-to-i, Global TESOL and ICAL. i-to-i is the most popular amongst teachers nowadays. They also have classroom based classes if that is what you are after.

![]() | Has anyone been through the colleges mentioned in the above post? I have no teaching background, but my wife is halfway through a Bachelor or Primary Education- we would both rather be taught face to face & come out with some resources & ideas on how to teach classes. We;d love to hear from ppl who have been through i-to-i or Global TESOL so we can compare. We noticed tha ti-to-i has not only course fees, but placement fees when you actually get a job...is this a common thing? |

![]() | Who to go with I got my qualification through i-to-i. I was able to do a weekend course in Melbourne at the Downtowner on Lygon Hotel. I got work with this in Hong Kong and i have now deided to do an online course as well. I would reccommend them if you want to do something quick and efficient. George ![]() |
