![]() | A basic question about TEFL/TESL I've been considering the I-To-I course, but I'm a little confused (Perhaps it just seems too good). I can take this course, pass it, and then I could get a job teaching English overseas to adults and children? No B.Ed or anything? |

![]() | Re: A basic question about TEFL/TESL It will depend on the country you apply to and your background. There are still things you need apart from just a TEFL certificate. Such as:

![]() | Re: A basic question about TEFL/TESL In some countries you will also need to hold a degree. So, as gfell says it really depends. Where are you planning to go? If you already know where you are heading it might be worth starting researching the employment criteria of that area and also contact a few schools on spec to find out their basic requirements. |

![]() | Re: A basic question about TEFL/TESL HI Eeman, you basically have two options to become TESL/TEFL certified. You can either take a training course online or register in a traditional in house course. Online courses are a great option particularly if you have a limited budget to further your studies or if you have other work and/or family commitments that restrict the amount of time you have available to study. There is an interesting article on this in the ICAL Wiki at Qualifications for Teachers - ICALwiki Hope this helps |

![]() | Re: A basic question about TEFL/TESL As for South Korea, you need a 4-year degree only. No TESL/TEFL certificate needed. If you have a 2-year degree, a new program called TALK will consider you. Unfortunately, TALK pays a lot less, and you have to do homestay (not your own place). As for TEFL/TESL certificates that are approved in Korea, they need to be over 100 hours, and have it stated on the certificate. My site: The Midnight Runner Podcast from Seoul, South Korea |

| ESL Rookie ![]() | It is always best to get a degree first before coming overseas to work as a teacher. Many teachers who only have a TEFL are forced to take lower paying jobs. The way i-i works is that you have to first complete a diploma at least then they will let you do the B.Ed Hope that helps Sam Chapman Teacher Recruitment Manager Teaching Supply sam.chapman@teachingsupply.co.uk |
