![]() | Ways of Learning and Teaching a Language - Community Language Learning Community Language Learning This learning strategy evolved in the 1960's by Charles Curran. Community Language Learning occurs amongst a small group of students who sit in a circle, talk to each other about a given topic in the target language and record their conversation. Students then play back the conversation, write down and analyse it, with the help of the teacher. During the conversation, the teacher remains outside the group, helping with words and structures where required rather than teaching. This method allows students to conduct a meaningful conversation in a relaxed environment while taking complete control of the lesson.
