Arrow Props and Visual Aids

Getting Students to Visualise

Teaching can be thought of as an art form. The teacher needs to continuously think creatively in order to keep students interested and motivated. Teaching involves the creation of environment and activities that effectively invokes learning.

Successful teachers utilise props and visual aids when teaching. Teaching methods that lean towards the Fine Arts include:
  • Drawing pictures on the whiteboard
  • Facial expressions
  • Gestures
  • Use of objects
  • Miming
  • Handouts
  • Charts
  • Tone of voice
  • Videos and tapes
As you can see, teaching English is somewhat an art, where the teacher expresses themselves through props and visual aids.

Re: Props and Visual Aids

Images are great learning tools. It seems that they help memorize words and sentences better.

Re: Props and Visual Aids

I think that props and pictures really help students learn. They have something to relate what they are learning to. visual props work well with male students as do word pictures do with female students.

Re: Props and Visual Aids

One of the greatest tools out there is giant post it notes for visual aids. I love using them as they are big and can easily be posted along the walls if you want to continue to use them. They are also handy for group work.

That is why it is told "A picture is worth 100 words"

Story telling with pictures hence go a long way. As children tend to relate things such activities are of great use.
