Re: Demo Lesson Plan

Ok, get the students to introduce each other. Students at this age have done the self-introduction sooooo many times and you need to mix it up to give them a different approach. Tell the students they have 1 minute with their partner to exchange as much info as possible. Then after 1 minute, they need to introduce their partner to the class!

If you have more time, allow them longer than 1 minute to find out stuff. Also, tell them to find out something unique about their partner. Eg: most embarrassing moment, childhood dream etc.

Re: Demo Lesson Plan

Thanks. Another thing - The demo lesson is ten minutes, but I won't know the target language/topic until the day. Any ideas for activities that can be used flexibly for any topic? Something I can semi-plan for in advance.

Re: Demo Lesson Plan

Isn't the target language English? As to the topic, no matter what it is, you need to keep the conversation simple and try to engage all students. I strongly suggest using pair work, and then have each pair give their presentation by standing up in front of the class.

Since this is a demo lesson, only get 1 pair to stand up otherwise you will run out of time. Don't make the mistake of allowing students to present from behind their desks. They need to stand in unfamiliar territory. This will help them take the activity more seriously.

Another idea would be to brainstorm with the class. If the topic is on "movies", then you can solicit from students words that relate to the movies. As you write the words on the board, draw a circle around them and then start connecting them with other words that are given. As this goes on, a cool discussion will unfold and the students will really enjoy it.

Teaching is only limited by your imagination!

Re: Demo Lesson Plan

Target language means the grammar point or piece of language that is being focused on in a lesson(s).
