![]() | Skype for English Teachers and those Living Abroad! The latest in technology from Skype has now made it possible for us to talk cheaper than ever to friends and family back home. Skype offers cheap call rates at just over 2c per minute to most popular destinations on this planet. However, cheap does not mean quality is affected. In order to use Skype, you need to download their free software and purchase credits if you wish to call landline phones. If you use Skype to call other Skype customers, then calls are free. Recently, a range of VOIP phones have come onto the market. A VOIP telephone is perfect for those who prefer the feel of a real phone as opposed to mic and headset. Most VOIP telephones work with Skype and cost around $15~$25. It's just a matter of plugging the phone into your USB port and installing the software. |

| Skype is excellent, I've been using it for well over a year now and am very happy. I"ve also paid for skype out which allows me to call land lines cheap and the quality is fantastic. Recently skype added video beta which also works really great if you have a web cam. I like it since my parents can see thier grandchildren even though they live 1000s of kilometres away.
