Sample Speech

Here is a sample speech based on the outlines in the previous post. You'll see it's quite simple and most adult students should be able to handle something similar.

Introduction

Good afternoon, ladies and gentleman. My name is Takashi Kimura.

Today I'd like to talk about my hometown. You should visit my hometown of Fushimi. It's a great place to visit.

First, I'm going to tell you where it is, and second, I'm going to tell you what it's famous for.

Body

My hometown is in the southern part of Kyoto prefecture. It's near Kyoto station. You can get there by JR or Keihan. It takes about 40 minutes from Osaka.

Now you know where my hometown is. Next I'll tell you what it's famous for.

Fushimi is famous for the Fushimi Inari Shrine. The God of Business is worshipped there. A lot of people go there on New Year's Day. You can see 1000 Toriis ("Senbon Dorii") there.

Conclusion

Today I told you two things about my hometown. First where it is and second what it's famous for. Remember that it takes only 40 minutes to get there from Osaka and the God of Business is worshipped there.

I hope you visit Fushimi someday.
