![]() | Living and teaching abroad, we need to be aware of what foods do and don't agree with us. Changing your diet and eating foods your body is not accustomed to can cause you suffering and discomfort. A few years back, Bird Flu was a major concern in Asia. We may think it's over, but don't be so sure. Cambodia this year saw its first Bird Flu casualty in March, and the country's 7th. Bird Flu has killed at least 170 people since it began ravaging Asian poultry stocks in 2003. It remains hard for people to catch, and most human cases have been linked to contact with sick birds. Indonesia was the hardest hit country with 73 human deaths, and is seen as a hotspot because of its high density of poultry and people. Unfortunately Bird Flu has not only been confined to Asia. Egypt has the highest number of confirmed human bird flu cases outside Asia. Thirteen Egyptians have died from bird flu since it first surfaced in the country's poultry a year ago.
