![]() | Teaching in South America - your ideas? What you guys think of South America? I taught in Brazil and the money wasn't that good but I had lots of fun. I'm thinking about South America. Does anyone have any experience in teaching around South America? Last edited by gfell; Sun 08-Jul-07 at 12:33 PM. |

But I would say that you need to balance whether you want to work in a city or somewhere remote, where you will really experience life as the locals live it, and not the backacker circuit. Have a look at my institute's advert on the jobs offered page if you are interested to see the difference! Fidel | |

![]() | Re: Teaching in South America - your ideas? Hello May I ask what one can expect to earn in say Brazil, Peru or Chile? From what I can gather it's not great. What about accommodation, do they normally set you up somewhere? |

![]() | Re: Teaching in South America - your ideas? These are not highly developed 1st world countries, so don't expect too much. You should be asking more about the working conditions rather than salary expectations. A school teacher in Brazil would earn around R40,000 / year (USD22,000). If your in a university, it would go up to R60,000 / year. REF: PayScale Brazil - Brazil Salary, Average Salaries Peru: USD19,000 REF: PayScale Peru - Peru Salary, Average Salaries Chile: USD25,000 REF: PayScale Chile - Chile Salary, Average Salaries The PayScale website is only for paying members to access the report, however if you use the above urls, you wont need to pay. |

![]() | Re: Teaching in South America - your ideas? I suggest using Advanced Search from the links at the top of the page. That way you can search on jobs in the Jobs Worldwide Forum by entering your countries as the keyword. That way you get the information straight from the horses mouth. For Peru: http://www.aacircle.com.au/forums/se...searchid=34954 For Brazil: http://www.aacircle.com.au/forums/se...searchid=34956 For Chile: http://www.aacircle.com.au/forums/se...searchid=34958 You will get a much clearer picture by looking at the job ads. In most cases they will arrange rather decent and comfortable acccommodation for you.
