Teaching requirements in Russia

Hi im considering going to Russia to teach english at the end of the year.

Does anyone have any idea of what qualifications would be needed?

E.g:
Certificate Level:
Advanced TESOL certificate.
Professional TESOL Certificate.
Diploma Level:
Advanced TESOL Diploma.
Professional TESOL Diploma.

This list comes from seek.com.au. They reckon the Diploma level is required to teach in most countries. Is this true?

Also, any good/bad experiences from online TEFL programs.

Thanks heaps.

Only a Diploma when teaching abroad

If you only have a Diploma, then it's difficult to get a work visa in Taiwan, Korea and Japan.

Keep in mind though, the Australian meaning of Diploma is different to the US meaning of Diploma. A Diploma in Australia can be anything from 12 months to 3 years and can be issued from private colleges. In the USA, it's seen as a piece of paper usually issued from a university.

If you only have a Diploma, then a TEFL Certificate is highly recommended.

Teaching in Russia

Do a search in the Jobs Rest of World . Click Search and just type "Russia". This will bring up all the Russian located teaching jobs. That way, you can then see the requirements by employers.

Seems that you can get by with just a Diploma. My best suggestion is to enrol in a CELTA course or TEFL course from a provider in Russia. Then upon graduation, they would help you find a teaching job.
