![]() | Malaysia - any info/advice? I know that the ESL teaching job market is slim in Malaysia, but I would like to know if anyone has worked there/lived there and knows the situation first hand. What are the options for ESL teachers? How much do private English Schools pay? Last edited by gfell; Wed 13-Dec-06 at 12:58 AM. |

![]() | Best bet would be to head to KL (Kuala Lumpur). If you don't like KL, then you could also have a good chance at finding work in Sabah or Sarawak. The typical salary for English teachers ranges from 2500 to 3000 RM per month. International schools pay the best. Salaries can range up to 5000 RM per month if you're a good teacher. Malaysians tend to prefer learning Queens English rather than American English. Quite a bit of demand for jobs in KL, and you wont break the bank by going a month or 2 without a job as the cost of living is quite cheap. Recommended top schools would be: British Council - Malaysia |

![]() | Re: Malaysia - any info/advice? You might want to give Singapore a shot before you head for Kuala Lumpur. Like kkbaby said, there's lots of ESL jobs in Malaysia, finding them is pretty easy and the cost of living is bare minimum. Still, Singapore is a much better prospect, in terms of revenue, job satisfaction, entertainment and as a career boost. Either way, best of luck. ![]() |
