heading to Dandong and then Jinan

Well thanks for the replies guys. It is appreciated. I'll be headed to Dandong for a month and a half and then from March on it will be Jinan. Anything that you forward to me in expectations or what I should bring along would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

heading to Dandong and then Jinan

Jinan huh, what school? I worked there for almost 2 terms, I have a great Chinese friends there and Chinese parents even. I wouldn't recommend Jinan as a destination, but the people are nice, about the only redeeming feature of a place where, on some days, you can't even see 100 mtrs ahead of you!

Good luck there and lemme know how, and when you settle in and I'll be in touch with some folks there who may be able to help you a bit!

Re: Where I'm heading to in China

I'll be working for Aston Future School. What do you know about them?

What the deal with Jinan? What about it? Dirty or what? How's the life there? People are nice, at least that's something to be happy about. Do they have gyms there? Thanks for the heads up.

Boy they are strict here in these newsgroups! I guess it's a good thing. Sorry for the problems!

Re: Where I'm heading to in China

Never heard of Aston Future School. Do you mean Aston English school? If so, they are cool to go with. Good reputation and clean, modern premises. They have quite a number of schools throughout China and have been around for 10 years or so.

Jinan is probably one of the most wealthiest cities in China. Well in the top 50 that is of a total 659 Chinese cities. Average salary is about USD 3,500 year. Jinan has good transportation and is the hub for Shandong province. It's quite a bustling place also with it's own international airport and a central shipping port.

Jinan is really a beautiful place. Tourism is strong and there are some nice scenic spots by the lake there. Am sure you will enjoy it if you head there!

Re: Where I'm heading to in China

That sounds great! Have you been there before?

Yes it's the same school. They have two names Aston English and Future School. They also have built a school for their teachers so it souldn't be that bad...

Thank you for the information.

Re: Where I'm heading to in China

Now some have called Jinan a craphole and you say it's nice. Please tell me more about why you believe it is nice. Which I'm hoping is true...

I hear about these springs and bathhouses. Could you tell me more about them as well? What about the people? Anything else that you would care to offer would be most appreciated.

I'm just trying to gather as much information as I can before I leave.

Thanks!

Jinan, China

Not sure where you are getting your information from. Who told you this?

Did you know Jinan is recognized as a natural and cultural heritage by the United Nations? If Jinan was so polluted, then am sure this status wouldn't be recognized. It's also really wonderful for a great number of natural springs.

Take a look at a few pictures to give you an idea.

Re: Where I'm heading to in China

Well for one, take a look at the post above you where Kiwi said that he spent two terms but wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The picture make a good agrument for being Jinan. I'm going to be there, so I'm going to make the best of it no matter wha, but I think that I'll enjoy it.

Thanks for making it easier and easing my thoughts.
