![]() | Re: There is a new law in China on new hires This is a totally crazy law if this is the case. So what if I run an English school and the teacher leaves...? Then what? I cannot hire another teacher til the Olmpics is over? This is baloney... and sorry, but I don't believe it. There must have been another reason why your visa application was rejected. |

![]() | Re: There is a new law in China on new hires I hardly believe this too. Like Benz says, schools need to continually hire teachers otherwise their school would go bust. Perhaps the immigration officials told you a fib. |

There were a lot of teachers down in HK when I was there to renew my visa. Most were refused and told to leave China and HK....now! I had all the paperwork from my school, years worth of visas, no black marks against my name (except being one day overdue on my visa once) and I was refused too! I went to my consulate, told them what was happening and as my consulate in Hk is across the road from the Chinese consulate, I had a consular officer go with me with all his diplomatic credentials, and we went to the Consul-General and he was told, in no uncertain terms that my country would take it as an offense if I wasn't issued the correct visa because I had the correct and stipulated papers etc. My visa was issued in 20 mins! I won't say this works for everybody, but sometimes, our governments do have their uses.
