![]() | Rumble in the Hu Tong I have been in Beijing for about three months. One of the most interesting things for me personally has been the Hu Tong. It is full of Chinese culture and tradition. I got up early one morning about 530 and went for a jog. Its like another world. I saw these old women and men practicing some sort of 功夫 kung fu. I later leaned it was Thai chi. They invited me to join them. I gladly took part. The older took my phone number I thought I was a one day thing. The next day at 530 the Chinese guy told me to get up and come outside. After a week I was feeling confident and made a huge mistake. I walked up to the old man and I said 露两手 which means “show me what you got”. He knocked me on my ass in half a second. I was a little scared after that. I am about 6’3’’ 230 not a small guy. Is there any Thai chi schools where I can take some proper classes? I tired of getting beat up by old men and ladies. How much do lesson cost? How many styles are there in Beijing? |

![]() | How many styles of Tai Chi in Beijing? I think it would depend on the school that teaches it. As far as I know, there are only 5 major styles of Tai Chi:
You can practice for free at: - Beijing's Temple of Heaven Park Places to learn Tai Chi, I would recommend from the below list: Beijing Evolution Fitness Centre

![]() | Tai Chi Yeh, used to have interest in holistic medicine and Asian therapies. Preying Mantis is related with Kung Fu, not Tai Chi. Note the spelling - Mantis, not Mantice. Alll the best with your health! ![]()
