![]() | Anyone used a toilet in China recently? Well, first you have to get over the embarrassment of there being no door. Second - be prepared to squat, and third - the lack of hygiene may be enough to scare you away. ![]() This was my first experience a few months ago when I started teaching in China. I've heard of the stories beforehand so was sort of prepared. But still, it's a hard feat to do your business in front of someone without the privacy of a door.... But, although it's not my cup 'a tea, it didn't turn me off loving China. I realize that every country has different cultures, and we need to respect this. The world would sure be a boring place if every country was the same. To be fair though, toilets in China have probably come a long way. I don't want to get into how toilets once used to be otherwise it would be like a horror show. Thanks for reading my blog. Charmaine (Teacher in Changchun, China) |
