| Senior Member ![]() | Re: Language Barrier - Tips for Survival I gave up trying and just use my butchered Putonghua as much as I can and sometimes, people will correct me. The hardest part, for me, is that everybody wants me to speak English all the damn time, so I rarely actually have a chance to practice my Putonghua. My new job is in Henan and hopefully, I'll have time to practice more there. I'll buy a set of CD ROMs recommended by an American friend here, who has done the course and can speak extremely good Putonghua now. Here's hoping, that after 3 years (and counting) I'll be a little more conversant at the end of it, however, I have to admit, I'm not too bright when it comes to learning other languages.
