![]() | About Speaking and Learning Chinese Hi everybody! Da jia hao! Wo jiao xia tian ( my Chinese name, it means Summer) Last month I came to Beijing for work. I just learned mandarin about 20hrs. Firstly, I think Chinese is so difficult to learn, I think many foreigners have the same problem. I went to Beijing Mandarin School to learn Chinese. I joined one group class in the evening. The pinyin is difficult to learn. I always forget the pronunciation. But my teacher is so patient to teach me, and let me do more practice. My teacher shows us the easy way to remember the pinyin, and how to pronounce in right way. So, I think you have to chose professional way to learn Chinese when you are beginner. Right now, I can speak some sentences in the daily life, and Chinese can understand me. I believe I will continue to learning Chinese. Sometimes, I find it is interesting. If you want to learn Chinese you can go there. The teacher is professional and kind. (Thanks for my teacher --- Sandy.) Here is some information, hope it can be useful. www.beijingmandarinshcool.com beijingmandarinschool@yahoo.com.cn Tel: 01065081026 |

If you really want to go for it studying 20hrs a week for 6 months should get you HSK level 3. Well that is my experience, obviously it varies from person to person. S |

![]() | Re: About Speaking and Learning Chinese I've been learning Chinese mostly on my own for the last three years. I've been using Chinesepod off and on as well as an assortment of textbooks. I also can ask my wife for some help every now and again. I must admit, it's difficult to stay motivated sometimes without a class, but I'll keep plugging away until I find fluency.
