![]() | What happens when i arrive in Taiwan? I will be starting my studies in Taiwan in June and would like to know how long i will need to arrive prior to june to arrange accomadation etc (AAC say they will organise for me)....also is there an induction/orientation day/week i attend or something. Will there also be a guide to take us from the airport to our accomadation? If anyone can help in anyway with these questions i will be most appreciative as i would like to start planning now for the move (i want to have a holiday prior to settling down in taiwan but dont want to miss any orientations etc.) I also have a wedding in malaysia on the 28/5 and i think my classes start 01/06 - so my need to plan now is evermore important. thanks FS-180 |

![]() | Some good questions you have FS-180! I would suggest arriving 1 week prior to finalise your accommodation and gain a bearing of your local surrounds before commencing your Chinese studies. Believe it or not, some students actually arrive the day they are scheduled to commence their studies, so giving yourself 1 week should be fine. The idea is to have already planned and booked your accommodation prior to your arrival. Arriving 1 week prior will give you a type of insurance in case the accommodation isn't quite what you expected. Have some backup to in case you don't like what you see. A good idea is to also get the place to email you a photo of the accommodation. The less suprises the better. Some good accommodation links for Taiwan:
Hope the above info helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

![]() | Hello Frontside180, Please see the semester schedules as below: March 01 , 2006 ~ May 19 , 2006 June 01 ,2006 ~ August 18,2006 September 04 , 2006 ~ November 24 , 2006 December 04 , 2006 ~ February 16 , 2007 Providence University doesn't offer an orientation for students enrolled in the Mandarin program. I would suggest staying in temporary accommodation until you find something more permanent. The links in my previous post should give you some good listings of what's available.
