![]() | Where Do I Teach In Taiwan To Strike It Rich? I hope you aren't only after the money when teaching English. Sure, teaching English pays well at times, but please make sure you enjoy it at the same time.Ok, for those who love teaching and want to save as much as possible for a year or 2, then the "Chef's Suggestion" is --> Kaohsiung, Tainan, or Chiayi. Here the cost of living is cheaper than the major cities, and yet the pay is still attractive. Don't settle for less than NT$550 per hour. There are also short-term classes on offer. For a 90 minute class, you can expect around NT$1000. But be careful and weigh up the options. Private work does pay more, but doesn't include a work visa, accommodation or other benefits. Hence, it may be best to teach full-time in a buxiban and find privates on the side. Many schools allow this so there is no need to worry.
