![]() | Underground jobs in Korea Hi, I have a certificate in CELTA but no degree, and I'd like to teach in Korea, since it's my girlfriend's home country. I am considering applying for a working holiday visa. How easy is it to find underground/illegal jobs and are there many dangers or problems that you may run into when working 'off the books'? Is it a better idea to fake a degree so that I can apply for an E-2 visa? Thank you! |

![]() | Re: Underground jobs in Korea Here i am dudes! Back after a long spell. Tough to get underground jobs. Why? Cause the schools cannot risk it AND there is no need considering there is an abundance of teachers. Fake degrees... hmm.. I wouldn't touch them. It's fraud! BUT, if you can get yourself a type of instant degree that IS from a licensed university, then go for it. I know a few who have paid a few hundred dollars for this without any issues. |

![]() | Re: Underground jobs in Korea You risk a lot of problems trying to work underground in Korea. The only jobs you may find will be in dodgy hogwans that probably won't pay you well, if at all. The major hogwans and government education system are doing a major crack down on fraudulent degrees now. Teachers have to provide written proff of enrolment at the University where their degree is from. Also the government has brought in new visa rules for the E-2. A person will have to do an interview at the Korean Embassy in their home country before the visa is issued. A heel of a lot of red tape, especially with a fake degree. My advice, either get a degree then come to Korea and work legally or marry your girlfriend and come in on an F-2 visa and work legally or better still, both. Cheers Mike |
