Joining a bank in Korea

I am travelling to korea and bringing a large amount of British pounds with me. Can I deposit these easily into a Korean bank? Can I open a foreign deposit bank account easily and quickly?

Re: Joining a bank in Korea

Your best choice would be Citibank Korea. Offers banking in English and multi-currency accounts.

Website: Citibank Korea

Re: Joining a bank in Korea

I don't know where you're coming from, but since the financial crisis in 1998, many domestic banks were folded into foreign banks. Citibank ( US owned) has branches in most major cities here, as does Standard Chartered. But services really depend on bank personnel rather than the bank itself. One clue is to look for banks which have global atm machines - SC, woori bank, kb star are three I can think of - but that still doesn't guarantee service in english. The best combination is a bank with some international focus and personnell who can speak english so that you can guide them on procedures. It might sound strange but that's the best formula if you don't speak korean.
