working holiday visa, no degree

how likely or possible is it to find teaching work without a degree but with a visa valid for working, such as the working holiday visa? i have also 18 months experience as a teaching assistant in the UK. i am 25, intelligent, feel i would be good in the role, but i lack the piece of paper that says i have a degree...do i have any hope of finding teaching companies that will accept me? thankyou, ricky

Re: working holiday visa, no degree

As long as you can get the working holiday visa, then many schools will look at you. Your previous teaching experience will also go a lot in your favour, so be sure to highlight this in your resume.

Re: working holiday visa, no degree

No sorry... the only schools that would hire teachers without a degree are the schools where conditions are not so favourable. Hence, that's why they would drop their standards for teachers.

Schools will always try to get the best teachers, because that way they can use these faces when advertising the school and so on. If you don't have a degree, then the school cannot talk-up their school in the press.

Re: working holiday visa, no degree

what about a non-native (Malaysian), with an engineering degree (UK) and a valid visa (spouse)..what are the chances of even getting picked and called up for interview..and also, do we even get to choose where to teach ?

regards.

Re: working holiday visa, no degree

If you have a spouse visa to live in Japan, then your chances are stronger. I still wouldn't get too picky though and take any job that comes to you and then you can always upgrade to better jobs later on.

On your resume you should stress that you hold a spouse visa, and any teaching experience or related.
