![]() | Wish to teach in Japan? Hi I have over 20 years ESL experience and the last two in Japan. Japan is a great place to live/work. Great job opportunities for new and experienced teachers wanting adventure, discovering a beautiful culture, and meeting people from all over the world. Resumes are different than what we accept in N. America. Job searches are confusing enough, harder when you don't know the country. I'm glad I made the change and it has opened a lot of doors. No desire to move home perm. Just too much to see and do. If your interested in teaching in Japan please visit my company. Last edited by gfell; Sun 25-Feb-07 at 07:44 AM. |

What are some of the main differences you see between Japanese and western resumes? How long has your company been around and where was it incorporated? |

![]() | Re: Wish to teach in Japan? As you are fully aware resumes are anywhere from 2 pages (incl. cover page) to X number . One can not answer that unless they have the education/job history of the resume they are creating. There is no set standard for western resumes. Japanese employers do have a basic set standard for how a resume looks. You live in Japan, resumes are not all over the map. I have seen many have to start over on their resumes to suit the employers that they applied to. And in the end, (except for the information on it) they all have the same look. Even the photo you must include should have a certain look/size. I have an Irish client whose resume was openly accepted in N. America, but rejected in Japan. He contacted me for help in bringing his resume to Japanese standards. For future reference: There was no need to be sarcastic in your reply. I have never met you or talked to you before and I never reply to another in such a manner. Civility is a preferred trait by many and I am sure you could have asked your questions minus the sarcasm, dont you? |
