Schools Shut during Golden Week

Golden Week is just around the corner in Japan. This year, Golden Week is officially from May 3rd to 7th. However, many schools and businesses also take off a few extra days.

So, if you are applying for a teaching job in Japan over the next 10 days, don't expect to get any quick response to your job applications.

Golden Week consists of the following public holidays:

1. Green Day
2. Constitution Memorial Day
3. Children's Day

For Japanese, this is the longest period in the year with consecutive holidays. Hence, many travel both domestically and internationally.

It's a good idea not to head to Japan during this time to look for teaching work. The airfares will most likely be double the price.
