visa question

Hi, I have been offered a teaching job in Japan however, I would like to know if it is possible to "do a runner" if I do not like the company (i.e, if i am being treated unfairly). Is it possible to just go out and look for a teaching job with another company or school without losing my years working visa? Any advice on this situation would be much appreciated.

Talking Visa in Japan - not tied to the employer

In Japan, the work visa belongs to the passport holder not the company that sponsored you. You are free to go and do as you wish with your visa.

When I first came to Japan, I was sponsored for a 1 year working visa. The company that sponsored me only wanted me to work for a 4 month contract however. After my 4 months was complete, I then found teaching work eslewhere.

At another time I received sponsorship, I was unhappy with the low wages, so left after 3 months. Of course, I kept my work visa.

If you look at the work visa in your passport, you will see there is no mention of the company that sponsored you. You are free!

giving notice to leave

Should be outlined in your contract. You do have a contract right? I hope you also don't just quit and leave the school and STUDENTS in a pickle.

Do the right thing and give 2~4 weeks notice.
