![]() | very odd VISA info obtained from embassy Hello all, I just called the embassy in Australia today with a few visa enquiries. I was told that I dont HAVE to have a degree to get a working visa (despite it quite very clearly stated on the website!)...and that "it all depends on your employer". I then asked her about getting a visa within japan, and the thing about having to leave the country. And again, was told that "it all depends on the employer". She said "it is not a rule of the immigration, it is a rule of employers in Japan". I find it very odd, because it goes against all the research I have done! could someone, for sure, tell me that she may have been wrong????? *confused* ![]() |

![]() | Re: very odd VISA info obtained from embassy She is right. I have known many teacher's who have got their visa yet they don't hold a bachelor's degree. Depends on the size and power of the school applying for your visa. Of course, a bachelor's degree will help. When I applied my working visa, I was located in Japan and there was no requirement for me to fly out to get the work visa issued.

![]() | Re: very odd VISA info obtained from embassy really?! this is so strange to me! Perhaps its my reading the websites of those big companies like AEON and NOVA, who make it seem like its that way, or no way! My only problem is solely the fact that I want to get working in Japan, before I can provide them with my testamur. I want to apply for a visa in November, and even my letter of completion wont be eligable for issueing until mid-December. AEON had called me for an interview recently, and upon learning that I dont finish until late October, told me that they cannot interview me because it will be pointless as I wont be eligable for a visa. I was told my letter of completion, to get the visa, must state that I have finished my degree AND it must be written in past tense? I'm really starting to want to just go there on a working holiday visa, and then find a place that will sponser me for a working visa. Doing everything online is so unreliable! |

![]() | Re: very odd VISA info obtained from embassy If you can go on a Working Holiday Visa, then I suggest taking this route, and later getting a Work Visa when required. I got my Work Visa from an small dispatch company located in Tokyo. They wanted me to teach a 4 month company contract class out in the middle of no-where in Kobe. As they couldn't find a teacher, they asked me and jumped through all the hoops to get my visa. At the time I didn't have a Bachelor's degree.
