![]() | I am doing some research about teaching in Japan. Ideally, I would like to find a job that will pay my airfare, but I havn't seen very many jobs in Japan that offer this. Am I being too idealistic by holding out for a job in Japan that pays airfare?? I know that many jobs in Korea offer much better deals, and Korea is my second choice country. I hold a California teaching credential and have 3 years experience teaching high school social studies. Any advice or info is appreciated! |

![]() | Paid Airfare to Japan Very rare to get paid airfare to Japan. Only occasionaly have I seen teaching posts where the airfare is paid. Usually these teaching posts were for top university jobs or where the monthly salary was soooo low that the school decided to throw in the airfare component in order to reel in the teacher. Yep, it seems now that Korea does offer a better deal than Japan. Also, I think the cost of living is cheaper in Korea.

![]() | Nikkimo, I understand exactly what you are saying. I am currently looking for a teaching position that will pay my airfare. I have a bachelors degree plus 1 year teaching High School and many years teaching Sign Language in the summers. I am willing to go anywhere but Korea but Korea is one of the only places I have seen that pays airfare. Good luck on your quest to find the job that fits you. |

![]() | Korean and Chinese teaching jobs pay airfare in many of the cases. If you have a degree in Education and some teacher training qualifications such as a TEFL Certificate, then you have more power with bargaining. Also, choose the months to go. In and just before the summer months, demand for English teachers is high, so you may find that they are willing to throw in the airfare for you. But be ready to hop on the next plane as during this time, there is also an urgency to fill a position that starts within a few days.
