![]() | JET Scheme Can anyone give feedback on their experiences? I am considering a move to Japan and would like to know more about this scheme, its requirements and what salary to expect etc. Also, if you do not really want to be based in the big cities, can you request placement locations? I would prefer to teach children - is this possible on the JET Scheme? Would I be better off just applying to kindergartens directly? |

![]() | Re: JET Scheme The JET Scheme is not for kindergarten kids. You will be teaching at junior high and high schools. If you really want to teach young kids, then the JET Scheme is not for you. JET Teachers don't know where they will go. It's pot luck and some love their locations whilst others get their nose out of joint. Of course you can put in your preference, but expect the worst. Money is great and so are the long holidays and short teaching hours. It's a very lucrative job to get. You can see a testimonial at JET Testimonial. JET really is a stress free life and great for the first-time visitor to Japan.

![]() | Re: JET Scheme I don't teach in the JET Scheme, but my best buddy here in Japan does. He is very happy with his school and only teaches Monday thru Friday a few hours throughout the day. He has a sweet job and tells me how he is so happy with it. His salary is ¥3,600,000 a year with full return airfare on completion of his contract. He asked for the location on his preference and was lucky to get it. But this isn't guaranteed.
