![]() | Events all over the country to keep you bopping Japan is no stranger to partying, drinking and going wild. Especially so in the summer, when everyone feels young and full of energy. Japanese festivals can be brutal in the heat though! 99% of festivals and events are in the outdoors. You'll be sweating in minutes, so it's perhaps not a good idea to get drunk or stay in the sun for too long. Thank goodness to the pollution though, as it helps to protect you from sunburn. ![]() Japanese fans have caught on to the partying vibe quickly. In contrast to the indoor venues where fans are seen politely clapping, festival crowds go wild! There is constant movement of people, crowds cheering, music booming, making new friends, children enjoying themselves and those who have gone too hard too soon already asleep on their blue plastic sheets. Prices aren't the cheapest at the endless lines of food stalls. A sausage on a stick will set you back around ¥300. But I suppose, it's fair not to expect supermarket prices at these events. You will be sure to have a fun time when partying in Japan. But remember, the heat will knock you around a bit so drink plenty of water. Mix with the crowds and get to know the modern Japan as it is today! Jezza M. (English Teacher - Tokyo, Japan) |
