MichaelC is on a distinguished road
Also I am 31 years old, so I would not be able to get a working holiday visa from Japan...not sure if I could in Korea.

I dont know if this would make it very difficult for me to find work in Japan.

Working holiday visa to Japan and Korea

Unfortunately, US citizens cannot apply a working holiday visa to Japan.

Citizens can apply if they are from:
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Canada
  • Korea
  • Germany
  • United Kingdom
To apply to Korea for a working holiday visa, you need to be aged under 30 at the time of application.

Unfortunately not much is going in your favour.

Though, many do head to Japan and Korea without a working holiday visa and get sponsorship. If you have a Bachelor degree and TEFL certificate, then there should be no problem for you.

I do have a BA in Art History & will have a BA in English(British Lit concentration) by September '06

I will also have TEFL certificate by Sept '06

I was not planning a move until April '07

Does seem the deck is stacked against me. Seems sad that 31-32 is deemed too old.

You have been a great help. If I ever make it to Japan I will be happy to buy you a beverage of your choice
