English Listening Tests

Japanese Universities Introduce Listening Test

This coming spring, universities in Japan will be introducing English listening tests for all students. It has been identified that the Japanese have one of the lowest English listening comprehension skills in the world.

Kato-san, a student counselor at Joinet says,
This is only the beginning. Hopefully soon we will also see English listening tests as part of the Japanese high school system too.
In the past, too much focus has been placed on English grammar studies. Babies learn English communication before grammar, and the same should apply to adults.

English communication is a more important skill than knowing the complexities of English grammar.
