![]() | Word of advice to English teachers living in Japan. If you plan on getting stuff sent to you from abroad, then be aware that customs duty and internal tax may be payable on the imports. On vitamins, the tax is 12.5% + a few other extra charges. It's possible to claim an examption however only if you can prove the items are needed for your health. However, it seems the Japanese government tend to think the use of vitamins is not for health reasons, so will lump a tax on top of it. Sure is an imperfect world we live in at times...
