Azuki in Wine Jelly

I was fortunate to participate in Japanese cooking classes the other day. The theme was "New Year Cooking", also known as Osechi Ryori.

Let me share the recipe with you below:

Ingredients Serves 4

• Gelatin powder - 1 tablespoon
• Milk - 22 cc
• Canned Azuki (red beans) - approx. 100g
• Red Wine - 50cc

Directions

1. Mix gelatin powder with 2 tablespoons of water.
2. Heat milk in pan over low heat. Keep under 80 degrees C. Add the gelatin.
3. Add a the Azuki and red wine. Pour the mixture into a mold. Cool til solid.

This was so simple to prepare and along with other foods, the cost was 1000 yen. A great cultural experience.
