Non-profit Genesis Volunteer Teaching Program (soon to be affiliated with The Genesis Technological Foundation) in peninsular Bahia de Caraquez seeks a fundraiser/grantwriter to network with potential sponsors and foundations.
The funds sought will primarily be used to construct a high-school/technology center with internet access. Donations and awards will also be directed towards educational projects (recruiting English teachers and improving educational infrastructure in the Manabi province).
Specifically, the qualified candidate must have excellent writing skills, experience with international foundations and government grants, ability to work collaboratively with the internet community as well as with the BahieŇo community. You must possess strong analytic and prospect research skills. A BA/BS degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience fundraising is required (please provide references). Experience writing grants for educational projects a plus, as is mastery of Excel. That is the grit of the job. We are looking for a particular personality type to fill the position. We need someone energetic, impassioned by technology and education, someone creative and flexible enough to be given a broad agenda and be able to focus themselves towards productive avenues. Yes, we are asking for a lot. But now, the fun stuff:
- You will be living in coastal Bahia de Caraquez, a lively city of 30,000 people situated on a finger of land surrounded by a large, ecologically diverse estuary (El Rio Chone with a few remaining mangroves) on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other side (see google images).
- Free housing/utilities.
- Free Ecuadorian food daily (except no meals on siesta-Sunday).
- Free internet access.
- Free laundry, house cleaning.
- Bicycle access (1 of the more popular modes of transportation within Bahia, along with off-terrain vehicles and motorbikes).
- You will be connected to the BahieŇo community (ultimate Frisbee on Wednesdays and Fridays, art night at an environmental foundation on Monday, day-trip opportunities).
- Monthly salary beginning at $250/month (regional average) that will increase to up to $450/month if YTBD progress is made.
