| Volunteers for Thailand Volunthai (Volunteers for Thailand) is a non-profit organization seeking applicants for volunteer teaching positions in the northeastern region of Thailand. Individual placements in rural village homestays immerse our volunteers in Thai culture and leave them with extraordinary, unforgettable experiences.Volunteers teach English to secondary school students for three to four hours per day during the week, and, on some weekends, pitch in with Volunthai coordinators and other volunteers to run English camps. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to gain cross-cultural or EFL teaching experience, learn to speak Thai, or complement other travel plans in Southeast Asia. Our headquarters are located approx 260 km (162 miles) east of Bangkok in the city of Nakhonratchasima (a.k.a. Korat). Volunteers come here initially for an orientation and training session and then depart to a nearby village for their homestay and teaching assignment. This region of Thailand is rarely visited by tourists and offers a unique experience for foreigners. Program fees are much less expensive than many other volunteer abroad programs. We ask that volunteers pay $150 for the minimum placement of one month, or $250 for two months. The fee covers accommodation, all meals, orientation and training, placement, transportation from Korat to homestay, and twenty four hour support from our diligent staff. The fee does not include health care, visa fees, or transportation to Korat. Our eligibility requirements are flexible and primarily based on personality and willingness to immerse oneself in a new cultural environment. You may apply if you meet at least 6 of these 7 requirements:
