| Thailand teaching opportunities Seeking an experienced ESL-certified early education teacher who has preferably worked previously in Thailand and speaks some Thai to teach English and other specialties (see below) for which the teacher is qualified. Classes are very small (typically 6-8 children) with a Thai-speaking assistant and foreign volunteers. The school currently has about 25 young students, most of whom are girls. Flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm are essential qualifications. Experience in the specialties of art, music, dance, theatre, sports, swimming, climbing, yoga, gymnastics, gardening, crafts or other activities for children would be useful and part of your teaching responsibilities. Employment is 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, year around. Salary is 30,000 baht a month plus Thai medical insurance. Free accommodations in a modern house and food are available. The school is at the attractive site of a former resort and has swimming pools, tennis court and other facilities. It is very rural and quiet and the candidate must be able to live in such a rural setting. However, weekends can be spent at our Starfish Home site in Chiangmai if desired. The candidate must provide his/her own transportation between the sites. Some local transport is available. The foundation pays fees for visas and work permits. Reimbursement of up to $800 for initial travel costs is provided after six months of satisfactory full-time employment. About Startfish The Starfish Country Home School is a free bilingual (multilingual) residential school for needy children age 3 to 8, most of whom are hill tribe children from northern Thailand. The school does not promote religious activities by its students and will not accept candidates who push any specific religion. To Apply Email your most recent resume and cover letter to rhaugland@gmail.com. Further information required after initial consideration may include letters of reference, copies of academic certificates, passport copies, school transcripts, certification by police authorities and a phone or in-person interview. A one-year contract will be offered to the selected candidate with possible extension. The position is available immediately or possibly deferred a few months.
