looking for qualified teachers - international high school in Vietnam

Currently looking for qualified teachers (native speakers) for our July 17, 2008 session as well as our August 25, 2008 session and beyond.

Full-time and part-time positions are available. Both short-term and long-term contracts are also available.

Priority will be given to teachers who are already in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

About APU International High School

We are a 100% foreign-invested private international high school. APU IHS has been operating in Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon for nearly 4 years and is growing. Many of our high school students have aspirations of going to college/university in the US. Our ESL department is an in-house one that serves only our teenage students.

A bit about our ESL program. It is an intensive, English for Academic Purposes program where students study Monday-Friday for 3.5-5 hours a day. Another description of our program is that it is college-preparatory ESL. Unlike a typical English-language center, all four major skills are emphasized at all levels in our program. Our students are expected to absorb and retain a lot of material in a short period of time.

Successful teachers are those who will be able to deal with the fast pace easily. An open mind, a can-do attitude, attention to quality teaching, and a willingness to learn and adapt to our unique program will ensure success and satisfaction on the part of teachers. Orientation and initial training will help new teachers to become familiarized with our program. Ongoing on-the-job training will provide new teachers with extra tools and guidance necessary to be successful.

Required

• Bachelor's degree from a university in an English-speaking country
• English-language teaching certificate (TESOL/TEFL/CELTA or equivalent) from a recognized provider - certificates obtained from online courses are not acceptable.
• North American English speakers are highly preferred
• 6 months of experience is preferred
• Ability to teach teens effectively is a must
• Strong sense of responsibility and willingness to learn and adapt
• Professionalism is a must
