![]() | Our University is located in Jiaozuo City,( the middle area of China. Our city includes six counties and five districts with an area of 4017 square km. and the population of 3.3 million. It is the birthplace of Taiji and the International Taiji Conference is held in our city biennially. We have held it twice since the year of 2000. More than 1300 foreigners took part in this conference and competition. Yuntai Mountain is the National-level Scenic Area and was authorized as the First World Geo-Park by UNESCO. More and more tourists from home and abroad are coming here to visit our city. There are lots of nice restaurants around our university with delicious Chinese food. Beautiful natural scenic spots and cultural places in the city will refresh you; students desire for knowledge will make you forget all the tiredness. ) a newly-developing industrial and national tourist city. Jiaozuo City is in the northwest of Henan Province. It stands at the southern foot of Taihang Mountain and on the north bank of the Yellow River. It is bordered with Shanxi Province in northwest, Xinxiang City in the east, Luoyang city in the west and Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province on the south bank of Yellow River. Jiaozuo is rich in natural landscape and humanity landscape. The natural landscape groups Yuntai Mountain, Qingtianhe River, Shennong Mountain, Qinglongxia Valley and Fenglinxia Valley are world- famous. There are various places of historic interests and famous Chinese historic celebrities like Si Mayi, Li Shangyin, etc. It is also the birthplace of Taiji, traditional Chinese martial arts, which has become very popular in the world. The deep historical and cultural accumulation and sceneries provide HPU with a wonderful humane and social environment. Foreign teachers are an important part ofour University's faculty, and play an irreplaceable role in the university's daily teaching and research, talent cultivation, and construction of academic discipline. Our University has been inviting foreign experts and teachers to teach and give lectures at the university for decades, indicating that our University's education is up to date, open and international. This tradition also reflects our University's emphasis on absorbing the essence of foreign culture, using the foreign experience as a reference, and being in line with international academe. In a world that is quickly globalizing economically and education-wise, retaining foreign teachers is extremely important to our university's development. The number of foreign teachers at University, including both long-term and short-term, is increasing year by year. Last year we employed about 13 and we are going to employ about 20 for 2008—2009 academic year. Conditions Offered and Requirements: 2. Teaching duration: from September 1, 2008 till July1,2009. 3. Courses: English speaking, writing, reading and literature. The faculty in the Foreign Languages Dept. will work with foreign teachers as co-workers as regards the curriculum. 4. Workload: 20 class hours (50 minutes each class) five days a week. 5. Salary: The monthly salary will be 5,000 Yuan RMB with Bachelor’s Degree, 5,500 with Master’s Degree. No salary for August (Summer Vacation), altogether 10 months salary. 6. Air tickets and travel allowance: We will provide you with a round-way international air ticket (direct flight, economical class) or pay you in RMB cash the equivalent of round-way ticket if you bought the round-way ticket before coming to China, and the train fares spent on coming to and leaving the University. We will pick you up in zhengzhou airport for the first time you enter China. We provide you 2200 Yuan RMB as your annual traveling allowance. 7. Living conditions: We will provide you, also as indirect salary (i.e. my office will pay all this), an apartment on campus with two bedrooms, one living room, 24 hours hot water for bath, a TV set, a telephone, a kitchen, free electricity, cooking water, refrigerator, air-conditioning, micro-wave oven, furniture and internet. (Notice: A couple must share one apartment.) 8. Medicare: We offer free medical care in the University Hospital. If you see a doctor in the hospitals within the city approved by the University Hospital, we will pay 50%. 9. Holidays: Foreigners may enjoy the same holidays as we Chinese teachers do. They may also enjoy their own national holidays while making up the missing classes before or after the holidays since we Chinese generally do not celebrate them.
