Seeking Dedicated Kid's English Teacher: Taipei Area, Free Housing, Lots of Benefits

The school is located in Shijr, a growing suburb city 15min. east of Taipei City. The school has a great reputation, foreigner-run management, very well-developed curriculum and training, and best yet, FREE housing for its teachers. They have been in business for years and know how to treat their foreign teachers with respect and understanding. What I appreciate most about them is that they are direct and upfront, unlike how most Chinese people are (as someone from the States, I have found this aspect the most irritating about the locals...you never know how they think!)

The pay can seem a little less than the going rate, if you compare it with other schools’ salary. But, actually it all evens out, because they offer free furnished housing, which saves you lots of money and energy. Finally, they give a generous contract completion bonus (kind of like giving reimbursement for your flight)

All together you are looking at a savings of around 160,000NT, or over 5,300USD, for the year!

Here is a bit more about the job description:

1. Hours
- Guaranteed 25 hrs a week with the possibility of up to 32 hrs should the teacher desire more hours and demonstrates that he/she is cable of handling those hours.

2. Classes
- You will be teaching kindergarten to elementary school aged students.

3. Accommodation
- They provide furnished accommodationfree of charge to all full-time teachers. All the apartments are walking distance from school. Teachers are, however, expected to pay for their water and electricity, which is about NT$2500/month.

4. Holidays
- You are entitled to 3-week holiday a year of which 1 week is paid. (This is RARE in Taiwan!)

5. Health Insurance
- After receiving your sponsored resident visa, they will apply for your health insurance. The cost is approximately NT$225-500 a month, which is automatically deducted from your salary.

6. Salary
- Your starting salary is determined on our school’s scale based on your experience. For example, No experience - NT$ 500 per hour, and with 1 year experience - NT$ 550 per hour


The standard package to teachers with no experience looks as follow:

The pay for Foreign Teachers begins at (New Taiwan Dollars) NT$500per hour.
After 6 months - NT$550
After 1 year - NT$600
After 18 months your pay will increase by NT$25 per hour every six months.
Until the 60th month.

The NT$ 25 per hour increase a month also applies to teachers who have previous experience after the first six months of working at our school.

7. Yearly Bonuses
- The following bonuses will be paid:
After completing one year of service, you'll receive a bonus of NT$20,000.
After completing your second year of service, you'll receive a bonus of NT$40,000.
After completing your third year of service, you'll receive a bonus of NT$60,000.
After completing your fourth year of service, you'll receive a bonus of NT$80,000.
After completing your fifth year of service, you'll receive a bonus of NT$100,000.

As you can see from the package they offer, they try to employ people who are looking for a stable work environment. They structured the package in such a way as to reward employees who are loyal and stay with the school for a longer term.

8. Training
- Theyprovide a two-week training period during which time they familiarize teachers with our curriculum, system and methods. They believe in providing you with the correct tools to do your job as well as you can. Unlike some other establishments they want you to feel well prepared, ready and secure prior to undertaking employment in our organization.

This school is an established enterprise and the quality of its work and the level of the students are both very high. They have been running successfully for nearly 10 years and the future looks bright.

1.You must be a native speaker from one of the six English-speaking countries
2.You must be a university graduate; Tesol is preferred but not required
3.You must be a team player with willingness to serve, grow and learn
