About the wonderful location of school: Changhua, located in Central Taiwan, is 16 kilometers (10 miles) south west of Taichung City and takes about 20 minutes by train. Therefore, it is the perfect place to be if you are seeking for a place that is close to a major city, yet enjoys a slower pace of life and substantially lower cost of living. If you want to save money and experience authentic Taiwanese culture, this would be a great city for you. As with most places in Taiwan, you will need to ride a bicycle or scooter to get around in Changhua. However life is very convenient there still. On the social side, there are two pubs in Changhua where many teachers will hang out, while others will go to the bowling alley or one of the two movie theaters. Coffee shops and tea houses are plentiful here. Taichung is only 20 minutes away, and offers a wider variety of entertainment. There are lots of beautiful outdoor scenery to be explored as well. The city even has its own special mascot: a gigantic statue of Buddha, believed to be one of the biggest in the world. It sits 22 meters (72.6 feet) high and took 5 years to complete. The Buddha is perched on a pedestal adding another 4.3 meters (14 feet). Visitors can climb the stairs inside the 86 foot high statute and look out of the Buddha's eyes to enjoy the view of the city. The Buddha is located on Mt. Bagua, a well-known and beautiful mountain filled with wildlife and temples. Best part is, it’s located inside Changhua and very close to the school! For info on Mt.
