Uljin Education Office is hiring English Native speakers with Bachelor Degrees to teach English conversation for the school year 2008-2009. Teachers are expected to conduct classes in cooperation with Korean English teachers and are meant to collaborate mostly in facilitating oral language acquisition. Native Teachers are under the supervision of the school district

ABOUT THE COUNTY

Uljin is a major tourist destination located in Gyeongbok Province on the shore of the East Sea. It is a costal town with 9 hotels, numerous inns, natural spas, resorts, beaches, caves, waterfalls, valleys and temples. The county has a distinct regional charm with panoramic sights, its coastline dotted with small fishing villages. On winter, Uljin-gun is definite holiday destination for Koreans because of two centuries-old hot springs. The hot springs in Deokgu is the nation's only naturally flowing hot spring with an average temperature rising around 41.3 Celsius. The quality of the sulfur alkaline water is known to exceed that of Japan's Beppu Hot Spring in Kyushu. The other hot spring, Baekam in Onjeong-ri is also a sulfur-rich spring and was first discovered during the Shilla Kingdom (57 B.C. - A.D. 935). By the Goryeo Dynasty (935-1392) a large bathing place for the travelers had already sprung up around it. The pavilions at Mangyangjeong and Wolseongjong are also famous in the nearby Gwan-dong area for their stunning views of the rising sun on New Year's Day. The place is also known for its lip-smacking-good giant snow crab dish.

Teaching Hours: 88 hours per month
Paid Holidays: 2 Weeks paid Vacation ( 1 week in summer and 1 week in winter) Plus 12 Local Statutory Days

12 Ex-pat Teachers are currently employed by the school district

LEVEL 1+:
* Metropolis: 2.5 million KRW
* Uljin School District: 2.85 million KRW
Two consecutive years as a Level 1 within the same Education Board

LEVEL 1:
* Metropolis: 2.3 million KRW
* Uljin School District 2.65 million KRW
2 years of teaching experience with one of the following:
- Master's degree
- Teacher's/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA(100+hrs) Certificate
- Major in Education, English Education or English Language/Literature
Contract renewal as a Level 2+ at the same Education Board

LEVEL 2+:
* Metropolis: 2.1 million KRW
* Uljin School District 2.45 million KRW
Master's degree in any discipline, with Bachelor's in Education,
English Education or English Language/Literature
Master's degree in Education, English Education or English Language/Literature, with Bachelor's in any discipline
Contract renewal as a Level 2 at the same Education Board

LEVEL 2:
* Metropolis: 2.0 million KRW
* Uljin School District -2.35 million KRW
Must have one of the following:
- Teacher's/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA(100+hrs) Certificate
- Major in Education, English Education or English Language/Literature
- Bachelor's degree plus 1 yr full-time teaching experience
