Teaching in Iwate, Japan

Full-time ESL/EFL instructor needed starting the beginning of January, 2007 in Iwate, Japan.

Teach English communication skills to all ages at a private language school in Rikuzentakata (Iwate Prefecture), a city of nearly 30,000 in northeastern Honshu. Mostly small classes. Must enjoy working with children.

Required

• University graduate
• TEFL/TESL experience preferred
• 1-year contract (2-year contract renewable)

Job Description

Up to 40 hours of teaching, curriculum and materials development, meetings, and workshops per week. (About 25 teaching hours per week)

Benefits

• Salary: 250,000 yen/month for 1st year of contract.
• Paid vacation time: In addition to all Japanese national holidays, 7 days in August, 14 days at Christmas/New Years, and 7 days in other time, all with full pay.
• Special bonus: 100,000 yen for starting a new life and covering a part of airfare will be paid.
• Furnished apartment provided (Teacher pays only monthly payment of 45,000 yen.) The school will pay the initial deposits.
• Car and auto insurance provided

About Rikuzentakata

Rikuzentakata is situated on the Sanriku Coastline, about 3 hours from Sendai. With beautiful beaches on one side and mountains on the other, this locale is a nature lover's delight. In winter, good skiing is about 1 hour away by car, bus or train.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Applicants must live in US or Canada, especially Washington and Oregon States or Vancouver BC and Ottawa area to be able to have personal interviews. Applicants must be English native speakers.
