Short Plays in the Classroom

Hello!

I am an ESL teacher working in Mexico. I use short plays in the classrooms so children can express and communicate themselves in English which improves their pronunciation. If you are looking for scripts, visit my blog. I hope you find them useful with your students. And please, give me your opinion also

Thanks to Everybody

Re: Short Plays in the Classroom

Have you had any experience using short plays in the classroom for beginner students? I would think that any short play would require a certain minimum level of English before they can be used effectively.

With children, the teacher would obviously need to adapt your short plays to simulate zoo animals, in the kitchen and other fun activities that children love.

A great idea though to use short plays to teach English.

Re: Short Plays in the Classroom

Yes I have used them, but only with children. Right now I am teaching second grade and today they performed before their parents in an Open Class - it´s and end of the year activity. They did Goldilocks and parents were very proud so see their children act and speak english fluently.

Have a nice day

Re: Short Plays in the Classroom

Oh, excellent! Great to hear it. And I'm sure the children get a lot out of it too. I used to do plays too with my younger students. Plays based on:
  • Little Red Riding Hood
  • The Three Billy Goats
Getting the students dress up into their costumes gives them a real sense of accomplishment after the final play.
