Student Evaluation guideline before being expected to rate my students. It's on a scale 1 thru 5. I've copied it below for your reference. Hope it helps. Sure took me a long time to type it.
Individual Evaluation Report Explanation
Pronunciation- Pronunciation like a native speaker. Excellent intonation and rhythm.
- Clear pronunciation, but needs work on intonation and rhythm.
- Very clear pronunciation but has trouble with some sounds.
- Good when concentrating on individual sounds, trouble when speaking fast.
- Pronunciation needs work, especially similar sounds. Lack of intonation.
Fluency- Fluid, natural conversation. Excellent intonation and rhythm. Very natural.
- Good conversation flow, only minor hesitation or pauses. Good intonation.
- Can speak well, but speech contains unnatural pauses and intonation.
- Speaking sometimes interrupted by pauses to search for vocabulary or translations.
- Speaking sometimes halted due to difficulty constructing meaningful sentences.
Grammar / Sentence Structure- Excellent grammar structure. Even complex forms are no problem.
- Very well understood and often corrects one's mistakes without help.
- Very well understood, but occasional mistakes with articles, preposition.
- Grammar and structure are understood. Some problems with tense, articles.
- Grammar is generally understood. Problems with verb tense, parts of speech.
Vocabulary / Word Usage- Native-like vocabulary and idiom usage. Can use many idioms correctly.
- Excellent use of vocabulary. Can easily explain unknown words in other ways.
- Very good vocabulary. Rarely needs to use a dictionary. Good idiom usage.
- Generally good vocabulary but has trouble using and understanding idioms.
- Has trouble with many new words, occasionally misuses words.
Listening Comprehension- Perfect listening comprehension at normal conversation speed. No details are missed.
- Very good listening comprehension at natural speed, but occasionally misses details.
- Good grasp-of-meaning listening comprehension but specific details are sometimes missed.
- Occasional misunderstandings, but can generally figure out the meaning.
- Has difficulty understanding natural speed without a slow repeat.
Communicative Ability- No problem to discuss ideas and concepts at length like a native.
- Very good communication ability. Only minor misinterpretations.
- Can generally communicate well. Occasional trouble or misunderstanding.
- Communicates quite well, but sometimes gets stuck due to lack of vocabulary.
- Communicates well, but sometimes has difficulty communicating ideas.
