![]() | Re: Motivating students Hmmm... have been there, done that. It's tough, as you must still get through the core coursework before moving onto rewarding them with games. Try to organise activities where the kids must move around the classroom rather than sit at their desks relaxing and falling asleep. Get them moving, pumping the blood around their body and this will make them more responsive to your teaching. I used to sometimes throw a softball to the student when they answered correctly. Before they could toss the ball to someone else, they must ask someone else another question in English. You can break it up by bouncing the ball, rolling the ball under your legs, bouncing the ball once to your partner, or 2 bounces etc. Each time the student answers correctly, they can then toss the ball. You really need to get them standing up and moving around. That is the key then. If they do text work, have them sit for 5 minutes doing it, before asking them to get up and move around again. Good luck.

![]() | Re: Motivating students You need a bit more specifics if we are to help you. How old are the students? What are you attempting to teach them (what books are you using)? What activities have you already tried? Motivation is lacking with students at many schools in China. I'm sure it is also difficult for younger students to have any motivation on a weekend (I know I'd be the same way). |
